Year Six Personal Development

On Tuesday 20 th June 2006 all of year six got the chance to meet some of the Swans AFL players. Each Year Six class had 2 players in to talk about healthy choices.

class

We played many activities to learn to make healthy choices in our life. The first game was a warm up. What we had to do was get ourselves in to age order. You may think this is easy but you had to do this without talking. It was very enjoyable and fun.

The next activity we played was with a partner. There were 3 questions on the board and each partner had to answer the questions. The questions were

  • If you had a magic wand what food would you make appear?
  • What was a choice that you made that you were most proud of?
  • What is your dream job?

We then had to read the answers out to the class. I guess this activity was also meant to make you more confident. Also one of the AFL players wrote the answers down on the board so we could see how many healthy foods and jobs there were. They talked to us about looking after our bodies, and to achieve peak performance we need to eat the right foods.

The last activity was trying to hand ball the ball into a box. This was a fun activity even if you can’t throw or aim.

All of us got a free ball signed and a calendar.

It was good these players came as they made most of us to think about making healthy choices in our lives like don’t smoke, don’t drink and eat the right food. I’m very glad they came to our school and I’m sure all of year 6 would agree.
