The Hills Network Speaking Competition 2007
During Term 3 students in Years 4, 5 and 6 were invited and encouraged to compete in The Hills Network Public Speaking Competition along with 10 other schools in the area.
Aims of the competition:-
- to build self confidence
- to extend students’ skills in oral communication, speech writing and research
- to encourage and foster proficiency in the art of public speaking
- to provide an opportunity to further gifted and talented students in English
- to develop a relationship with our network schools.
The given topics were:-
Year 4 – My Favourite Thing
Year 5 – The Future
Year 6 – Own Choice
Following a “class competition” finalists were selected. Grade finals were then held with 3 students being awarded “Grade Finalist”.
These students competed in the Grand Final which was held at Oakhill Drive Public School on September 20th. They performed very well with one being awarded Highly Commended. All received Certificates of Participation. Well done!
