CONCLUSION

My dear ****

I hope that you will have followed my advice and read this story from the beginning to the end.  When you reached the end of a Chapter, did you really want to read the next Chapter ?   I trust that you did.

Did you enjoy reading the story of Samuel Gilbert, who came here as a prisoner, with not a penny to his name, and how, by having married the right girl in the first place, he eventually became a big man in early Parramatta and the father of six little Aussies ?

If so, you know all about Samuel Gilbert and Mary Gilbert, my Great Great Great Grandparents, who have received the honour of being named for your School.  I think that this little book is the only one which has been specially written for Grades V and Vl in New South Wales, and I have done my best to keep it simple for you and your children and grandchildren.

Some day, someone will rewrite Chapters 10, 11, and 12, putting in things about which I have never learned.  There is so much of the early history of New South Wales which has still to be written and included in school books, like this little one.
